Anh's Story: Script Development Internship in New York
This is Anh!
Anh is a current student at Denison University. She wanted to broaden her experience during her studies and joined the ArtBound Initiative program. She secured a Script Development Internship at Caledonia Productions in New York City, led by Patrick Daly, who oversees all US theatrical and television projects for Eon Productions, a British film company.
Describe your daily tasks during your Script Development Internship!
My daily routine during my script development internship varies from day to day. Most of them consist of these three at different points in the day:
Reading scripts and writing coverage
Doing research on talents, festivals, reviews, and many more for the company's various projects
Admin tasks and office organization
Eon Production is a British film company famous for the James Bond series
Describe the work environment you were in!
The day-to-day atmosphere could be either hectic or relaxed, less structured than I had imagined before starting the internship, and more needs-based. However, overall, it wasn't a stressful environment. Everything was usually well communicated because it's a small, close-knit team.
I also had many opportunities to engage in conversations with my supervisor(s) and learn from their insights into the industry, the art, and other relevant cultural or social issues. I believe the other intern and I have developed a close relationship with her, even after the internship ended.
What did ArtBound Initiative help with the most?
I appreciate the strong sense of community that ABI has made an effort to create, from the frequent check-ins to the virtual and in-person events our coach created.
I've got hands-on experience with reading, coverage, and research - all of which will be applicable to other Script Development or Producing positions I will be applying to in the future.
