Alex's Story: Video Editing Internship in New York
This is Alex!
Alex did an international internship in New York with Stonestreet Studios, a New York City-based fully operative, multi-purpose, visual motion picture production studio as a video editor intern. While journeying from Australia to New York, Alex discovered a multitude of opportunities to delve into various roles within the film industry during his video editing internship, all made possible by the ArtBound Initiative program.
Could you describe what your day-to-day looks like as a Video Editing Intern?
My daily routine during my video editing internship consisted of arriving at the studio to set up my laptop and then either continuing working on larger projects that I had been working on or taking on smaller projects such as short-form content. Usually, I have lunch at around midday or 1 PM and then continue working until the end of the day.
What was your favorite part about your internship?
Some of my favorite parts were learning the process of post-production editing. Also, the smaller duties were especially rewarding as they directly relate to my current area of work, as well as seeing how the process is undertaken in a more organized and professional workplace.
Did your video editing internship meet your expectations and how will it impact your career goals?
My video editing internship certainly exceeded my expectations and has provided me with countless insight and knowledge into the film industry and my area of expertise. It will serve as a baseline and my entry level into the professional industry as a strong stepping stone.
In addition, the environment and atmosphere are always very positive at Stonestreet Studios; everyone is very friendly and helpful and makes the days go by well.
How did ArtBound Initiative help you the most?
ArtBound Initiative helped me the most by providing me with exceptional guidance towards the professional workplace in the process of applying and workplace behavior, which significantly helped me in making the most of my time at the company.
Not only did ArtBound Initiative allow me to pursue my career on a professional level, but it also offered me to experience a life so different from my own.
