ABI Profile: Jessica
Jessica
graduated from Monash University in 2021 majoring in Architectural Design. Jess did an internship with Basis Rho, a product design studio by artists Anja Langer & Marie Jeschke.
I interned at Basis Rho, which is a business founded by Jeschkelanger artist studio to produce functional art in the form of tables, tiles, vases and other objects with recycled glass and bassist salt concrete. I was able to work within the small team across a variety of tasks to do with the products such as designing new packaging for the unique vases, helping on photoshoots for the products and making drawings for client information.
It is unclear what the extent of its benefits are but it has opened my mind to different art fields outside of architecture who work in conjunction with architects and how art can play a larger role in design. ArtBound as a program has developed my career confidence to believe in my own skills and to see my work prospects outside of a normal job environment.
ArtBound has helped me to understand how to navigate the professional world from applying for jobs and within that job environment itself.
