Chiara's Story: Graphic Design Internship in New York
This is Chiara!
Chiara graduated with a Masters in Communication Design from NABA Milano, Italy. Upon completing her master's degree, Chiara landed a graphic design internship at Mark Stephen Agency, New York.
Describe some of your responsibilities during your experience!
While in New York I did a graphic design internship in a small event agency (Mark Stephen Experiential Agency) organizing big events all over America and the world. I was mainly responsible for the creation of the design for the different activations in the events such as stages, photo booths, entrances, signages, and many other aspects.
The main event we were in charge of while I was there was the Essence Festival which was one of the best experiences in my life because it gave me the possibility to jump into the production of a very big event and work on the field, witnessing all my designs coming to life.

In what ways do you believe this internship has influenced your career?
First of all, my graphic design internship gave me the opportunity to see new sectors of my job and to apply my skills to a completely different field from what I was used to before. I’m now more conscious of what I like and what I can do and I’m more confident in my work and my capabilities.
I feel like I took a big step in my career path that will help me grow even more and eventually get where I want to be.

How did ABI support you during your experience?
The program was also helpful in creating a network of people that I could meet and events to attend. I think the whole program is quite useful cause it follows you from the beginning, providing help in building a stronger presence in the work world and guiding you through the complicated process of getting an internship abroad.
ABI was always very present both before and during my internship. They provided me with support and understanding and made everything work out perfectly.
