Liney's Story: Virtual Social Media Internship

After graduating from the Miami Fashion Institute at Miami Dade College, Liney chose to join the ArtBound Initiative program to get a head start and gain real-world experience. She would end up doing a virtual social media internship with PhotoBook Magazine, a digital magazine located in New York City.
Tell us more about your Social Media Internship!
I was placed at PhotoBook Magazine, an online magazine based in New York City that curates original, creative works reflecting the social conscience sweeping the fashion industry.
As a social media intern, I was responsible for managing the magazine's social media accounts, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. My duties included creating daily interactions on these platforms and preparing competitive presentations, strategic reports, and monthly analytics reports. I would later present these reports to the CEO/Editor-In-Chief of PhotoBook Magazine, Alison Hernon, every Monday during our weekly meetings.
How do you think this experience has impacted your career?
I believe this social media internship will significantly impact my career path as it served as a kickstart into the real fashion and editorial industry. It provided me with essential skills applicable in various settings while also imparting a deep understanding of working with social media in an editorial context.

How did ArtBound Initiative help you during your experience?
Before the internship, ArtBound Initiative played a crucial role in kickstarting my career. I participated in the ABI Industry Fast Track program, which prepared me to find and onboard my internship.
