Kai-rui's Story: Virtual Writing Internship
This is Kai-rui!
She is a current student at the University of Auckland. While still attending classes in her country, she took a virtual writing internship with PhotoBook Magazine, an online magazine company based in New York City.
Tell us more about your role during your Virtual Writing Internship!
I was placed in PhotoBook Magazine for a virtual role as a writing intern. My main tasks were to research, pitch ideas and submit entries in the arts and culture sections!

How do you think this internship has affected your professional career?
My virtual writing internship taught me a lot about my capabilities and especially boosted my confidence as it made me realize I am very capable of adjusting and learning. I learned more about what I was searching for in terms of career, as my role as the writing intern provided me with a newfound appreciation for writing.
What has ABI helped you with the most?
ArtBound Initiative offered consistent, patient, and constructive preparation prior to the internship. Knowing I had the support of ABI provided me with a support framework to feel more comfortable during the internship process.
Ultimately, I had a very memorable as well as successful first internship opportunity with the empathetic support from ArtBound Initiative
