Sophi's Story: Production Internship in New York
This is Sophi!
Studying Photography & Video at the School of Visual Arts, Sophi secured an internship as a Production Intern at Red Antler, a leading branding company based in Brooklyn.
Sophi was recognized as one of ArtBound Initiative's two Summer 2022 Creative Diversity Scholarship awardees!
Can you share more details about your Production Internship? What were your responsibilities, and what was the company like?
I have been placed as a content and production intern at the branding agency Red Antler in Dumbo Brooklyn. As an agency, Red Antler is committed to being divergent and successful, they actively build brands for startups that are changing how the world works. Through the company's many different teams, we are able to collectively create a brand experience from many points of view.
At Red Antler, I have been lucky enough to shadow in different departments and learn a wide variety of the ins and outs of the industry - aside from just where I was placed. I have actively participated in shoot preparation, as well as storyboarding and concept. In addition to maintaining our in-house studio needs, and executing mini shoots necessary to our clients. Throughout my time here I have grown in not only my knowledge and skill set but in my place in the company as well.
How has this experience impacted your career?
So as for impacting my career - it’s doing so in a tremendously amazing way. Aside from the possibility of being kept full-time, the connections and relationships I have created over the past few months - as well as the knowledge and personal growth I have obtained - I feel extremely confident moving forward into my career.
ABI helped me most in ways I didn't even know I needed. I was able to build the skills and knowledge necessary to grow in my career through their program, and I couldn't be more thankful for the position I was placed in with their guidance.
