Could you describe what your day-to-day looks like?

As a Studio Management Intern, these are my responsibilities -

Studio operations:

  • Support day-to-day operations of the studio to ensure a healthy and safe working environment

  • Support the Office Coordinator with monthly expense tracking and reconciliations

  • Provide excellent client hospitality services, including greeting clients, coffee-making & event-planning to uphold OkayStudio’s brand as a high-end & trustworthy post-production house

Other experiences I’ve had during the internship include:

  • Shadowing in-house editors & producers to learn more about the commercial post-production workflow (producing, editing, colouring)

  • Assisted in sales & PR outreach to extend OkayStudio’s network for potential collaborations

  • Picked up skills in post software such as Premiere Pro & Da Vinci Resolve

How would you describe the environment at your internship?

I love the vibe of OkayStudio – we place a ton of emphasis on a client-first mentality, which is why we have a very clean, minimalistic, and frankly impressive-looking studio. I also love my co-workers and am extremely grateful to them – they have provided me with nothing but support and guidance, and are very open to sharing what they're working on, teaching me skills, and showing me stuff.

It's a very chill and laid-back vibe here, and everyone is close to each other, asking what we've got up to over the weekend and joking with each other.

Has your internship met your expectations?

Yes yes yes a thousand percent! I honestly could not have had a better internship. This internship has exposed me to a whole new industry (film & production) that I never thought I would have gotten into & that I'm realizing is something I'm wanting to pursue even further. This internship will open doors for me in the future, and I've made so many great connections here that I'm confident will boost me in the right direction after I graduate.

How did ArtBound Initiative help you the most?

ABI helped me the most in providing a sense of security in a new city. Without ABI, I couldn't have had the courage to take the leap of faith and move to Berlin all by myself for 3 months. I'm immensely grateful as well for the community it has provided, and I've made lifelong friends all around the world because of ABI (in fact, the short film I'm working on now has me roping all my friends from ABI - including fellow NTU student Alyssa!)
