Sadiq's Story: Graphic Design Internship in New York

Meet Sadiq!

Sadiq holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Western Illinois University. With a deep passion for visual storytelling and design, Sadiq joined the ArtBound Initiative program and completed a graphic design internship at Fight the Good Fight Productions in New York, a creative production studio known for its work in film, media, and socially driven storytelling.

How would you describe your day-to-day at Fight the Good Fight Productions?

During the internship, I designed two print banners, captured photography and videography for classes and studio events, and helped organize spreadsheets containing contact information for businesses and institutions across New York for outreach and printing purposes. Although it was a new environment for me, the studio felt calm and welcoming, which made it a comfortable place to learn and work.

It gave me the space to observe how a creative production operates and how design supports daily needs behind the scenes.

How do you think this internship will impact your career?

This internship gave me my first opportunity to actively work with a company in a professional creative setting, which felt like an important starting point for my career. Designing real materials for an organization helped me understand how my skills can be applied beyond school projects and into real-world workflows.

It also helped me reflect on the type of creative roles I want to pursue moving forward and how even small design contributions can support a company’s long-term goals.

In what way did ArtBound Initiative helped you the most?

ArtBound Initiative helped me step outside my comfort zone, especially when it came to presenting myself professionally. Through resume and portfolio support, as well as networking guidance, I learned how to better position my work and communicate my creative direction with more confidence.

These experiences set a foundation that will be useful as I continue applying for more defined opportunities in the creative industry.
