Could you describe what your day-to-day looks like at ACAF?

I work as a Curatorial and Administrative Fellow at Asia Contemporary Art Forum (ACAF), an organization committed to spotlighting and advancing the practices of contemporary artists from Asia and its diasporas.

My work has centered around revamping our social media presence, as well as proofreading and editing material for our new archive website, maintaining communications with partners and partner institutions, and advertising events and programs over email and online. A large project of mine consisted of designing the graphics and editing the footage for our new social media initiative, Talking Archives, which highlights the performances of artists and arts professionals from past ACAF programming.

Under the direction of my supervisor, I converted over 3 dozen performances into short-form videos for our Instagram and Facebook accounts, and worked to establish a cohesive and engaging visual identity.

How do you think your internship will impact your career?

This internship has prepared me for curatorial work by allowing me to practice a wide variety of related skills. I have learned to approach my work with focus and attention, approaching detail-oriented tasks with the bigger picture always in mind. This holistic approach will inform my work in all future administrative and curatorial opportunities.

How did ArtBound Initiative help you the most?

ArtBound has been greatly helpful in its support prior to my fellowship, assisting me in crafting a professional image. Its regular check-ins during my fellowship allowed me the chance to reflect on my progress, preparing me for increased responsibilities as my fellowship advanced. They have always been available should I have ever needed advice or assistance.
