Francesco's Story: Social Media Marketing Internship in Melbourne

This is Francesco!

Francesco is a University of Melbourne graduate with a double major in Graphic and Performance Design. He joined the ArtBound Initiative program to gain hands-on experience and further develop his skills in digital content creation. Francesco completed his social media internship with the Melbourne-based fashion design studio, Creation Collective. Read more on his story below!

Could you describe what your day-to-day looks like as an intern for Creation Collective?

During my internship, I was responsible for managing and filling in the monthly social media calendar, filming content in the studio, and generating ideas for Instagram posts across all three brands - Creation Collective, Asher + Archer, and Archers by Asher + Archer. I also edited and created reels, wrote Instagram captions, and helped with packing production orders. In addition to marketing tasks, I supported quality control by thoroughly checking and steaming garments.

The work environment was quite relaxed and never felt overly strict, which made it enjoyable. Most of the time, I worked alongside the team in the workroom where samples and garments were made.

What was your favorite part about your internship?

The content creation side was definitely most enjoyable and useful because I got to be creative when conceptualizing ideas to market and produce for the social media channels.

In which way your internship will it help further your professional goals/long-term career?

This internship, being involved in social media will definitely help further my goals in pursuing advertising as it's given me hands-on experience with real companies. It is also very beneficial when applying for roles such as junior social media manager/content creator, etc!

How would you describe the way ArtBound Initiative helped you the most?

ABI helped me the most by providing the coaching sessions! They were the most helpful because I got wisdom and help from people in the industry (e.g. mock-up interview, strengths & weaknesses session). The last coaching session about my strengths and weaknesses was super helpful and my coach gave me some great insight into ways I can help myself!

This internship will definitely help further my goals in pursuing advertising as it's given me hands-on experience with real companies.
