Alyssa's Story: Writing Internship in Berlin

This is Alyssa!

Alyssa studies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and joined the ArtBound Initiative program to secure a Writing Internship at Very Good Looking, a Berlin-based agency. Read more about her journey below!

Could you describe what your day-to-day looks like?

So work for me typically starts at around 10 AM, with a weekly team content and planning meeting. My day usually consists of writing content like captions or articles/features, and also researching, ideating or creating social media assets. Sometimes I get to follow my boss on really cool things like photoshoots!

The most rewarding parts of my internship are getting to see the work I’ve contributed to be published. But the most useful parts were chats with my supervisors where I got to pick their brains and learn about their process and their insights of the ad and branding industry.

How did ArtBound Initiative help you the most?

It helped me gain connections the most I think. Being able to meet fellow interns from all over the world is an amazing experience.  The other thing was giving me confidence for interviews.

Did your internship meet your expectations and how will it impact your career goals?

It has definitely met my expectations. Especially in such a small company, I got to see first-hand what it’s like to run your own business - what it truly takes.

The internship also helped me discover the kind of work that I feel personally fulfilled by and what I don’t like, which will definitely help me out along the way in choosing my career path.
