studied Interdisciplinary Studies at University of British Columbia. Sam then interned at Reflexgroup in the Fall of 2021, and Sam is now hired full-time as an Account Executive there!
ABI set me up with a 4 month internship at ReflexNewYork in the fall of 2021. Regardless of their position, everyone's responsibilities are multiple at Reflex, which is something that really accelerated my growth there. Some days saw me checking timelines and working with vendors/contractors, while others saw me brainstorming brand names and aesthetics.
"Reflex provided me with a great environment to learn how the marketing world works: How do you pitch a winning deck to clients? What does 'creative strategy' really consist of? What things do I need to learn to reach my dream position? I was able to explore and ultimately answer these questions, and many many more during my internship.

As so many ABI interns have said in the past, my biggest takeaway from my internship is confidence. When compared with my first day at Reflex, I'm now much more confident to pitch an idea to a client, to seek out an assignment that's outside of my comfort zone, to push a vendor to meet a promised deadline, and to deliver a unique value in such a competitive industry and city.
As I've learned in my internship, connections are the foundation of success. Whether it's at your internship or elsewhere, connections can point you in the right direction when you're confused, and can serve as exemplary professionals whose career paths or skillsets you can try to emulate as an up-and-comer. With that said, ABI's connections are second to none.
As my internship comes to a close, I'm now armed with a community of like-minded professionals, CEOs and Head Strategists, and great thinkers. Pair this community with a relentless drive to learn and deliver, and you're golden!
