Pomy's Story: Account Management Internship in New York
This is Pomy!
After graduating from Washington State University with a major in International Business and Sustainable Development, Pomy went on to intern at Reflexgroup in New York during the Summer of 2021.
What was your internship like?
I had the opportunity to intern at Reflexgroup, a boutique luxury brand agency located in New York. It was a hybrid workspace. I interned under the account management side of the agency, where I assisted in planning and executing events and guidelines for clients.
It was a very client-facing role, allowing me to sit in on conversations with clients and hear their expectations and reactions to our work. During my time at Reflexgroup, my main tasks included researching competitors of our clients, creating presentation decks for clients, reaching out to vendors for events, as well as copywriting.
How did this internship impact your career moving forward?
I think this internship really gave me a chance to get first-hand experience working in PR and specifically within the luxury brand industry. It gave me a foot in the door and really expanded my knowledge of how this industry works.
How did ABI support you?
Being in ABI I was given an opportunity that I probably would not have been able to do by myself as well as build a community in New York that I value and speaking honestly, needed.
Working with ABI was an amazing experience, they gave me advice that I still actively use. Learning how to give the best impression before an interview to knowing how to "sell yourself" and your skills.
