ABI Profile: Amanda

AMANDA

is a visual artist who holds her BFA in Fine Arts from the University of Kent. She completed her internship at the Berlin contemporary art gallery, Klemm’s.

During my internship, I was privileged to work at KLEMM’S gallery; An art gallery consisting of the founders/directors, the gallery manager who also deals with sales, and the press manager. Each of them operates in different areas to ensure the gallery runs proficiently.

My day-to-day responsibilities included, writing and responding to emails, phone calls, deliveries, and the post. As well as compiling documents and engaging with visitors. As time progressed, I was trusted to develop from these initial areas, which placed me in a position to learn and contribute more.

A Berlin Night In

I feel this internship has offered me a sense of clarity going forward in the arts industry. In line, this will impact my future intentions as I prepare to continue building up from this point -- within a gallery, perhaps exploring a different position.

I was extremely pleased throughout my experience living in Berlin, from the support and guidance offered through the program, to immersing myself in a new culture and maintaining these connections.

The program offers full support with an orientation shortly after your arrival, which is essential for getting around and feeling at ease in a new country.
