ABI Profile: Ally

ALLY

is a professional textile artist based in London who graduated from Leeds Arts University with her BA in Textile Design. Ally then interned as a Textile Designer at Acme Design + Studio in New York.

Being placed at ACME Design Studios was a great experience because the office environment was friendly. I was able to make connections with my co-workers and this made the internship feel like a nurturing and helpful place.

I was also lucky to be placed in the heart of the garment district which has an atmosphere of old school New York and craft in itself. Working for a fashion manufacture I was able to have an insight into the industry, to learn first hand how garments are made in production and how businesses are run.

This internship will set me apart from others in this competitive industry and I am now lucky to have more knowledge about how design businesses are run overseas.

ArtBound were very good with providing me with the information that I needed for where I would be working. I could not wish for better support whilst going through the Visa process. They made experience less stressful and more understandable.

ABI also put me in touch with other young creative people who I am still in touch with now. This was and is so helpful moving forward in the design industry. I learned a lot and my skills were put to good use and I have also made new skills that will continue to benefit me.
